Forgotten War

Comments

This is one of my most personal projects. It's a war epic to the song "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda". The song is about a survivor of the great Battle of Gallipoli in World War One. Hundreds were killed, and the mission was not accomplished. The English used out dated maps to plan their attack, sending them to the wrong beach. To tell you the truth I never had any personal attachment to a war. But something about this war attracted me. The history books ignored these men who fought to the death bravely to accomplish an impossible task, they ignored them because it was a mistake. I was at a bar back when I was living in Spain, and I spoke to a fellow Kiwi who told me about this. Later during my time in Scotland, an Australian friend of mine was singing the song. I feel that no other song that I've heard captured what is to me the true bitter-brave tone to war. The fact that these proud men who lived through such a calamity aren't recognized by the world because of political reasons.
